Risograph Printing Terms & Conditions

By placing an order with us, you agree to accept the following terms & conditions

Printing Imperfections

Risograph printing is a unique printing process which carries the chance of slight imperfections. Please see our print guide to learn how to reduce these imperfections. We aim to reduce these as much as possible during printing, but be aware of:

Ink smudging

Risograph ink is made from rice-bran oil, pigment and water, so is liable to smudging - similar newspaper inks

Misalignment

Registration will vary between prints, due to each ink layer being printed separately. More layers will increase the chance of misalignment.

Uneven ink

Large, flat areas of solid ink can produce imperfections, such as ink flooding.

Roller marks

When paper is fed through the machine multiple times, the roller which picks up the paper can pick up existing ink and transfer tire-like marks onto your print.

Cancellations

Once printing has begun, no refunds will be given. Cancellations before printing has begun, will incur any costs of materials that have already been ordered in for your project.

File Set Up Service

Our file set up service is charged at £20 per hour, subject to a 1hr minimum booking. You will be provided with a ‘soft’ (digital) proof of your files for approval and can request two amendments to the files. Any further amendments may incur a further fee. Payment must be made ahead of any work commencing on your files. We will discuss expected timelines individually, as this varies per project.

Payment

We require full payment via bank transfer before printing commences. Occasionally, we allow a 50% deposit to commence printing. The final 50% payment must be made ahead of collecting your prints. Your invoice will contain details of the prints you are ordering. Please review this carefully.

Quotes

Quotes are valid for 30 days; subject to change if any changes are made to print job.

Turnaround Time

This varies depending on your project & is subject to change. Please confirm the deadline you are working to ahead of payment. Our turnaround time does not include postage.

If collecting, you must collect your order within 6 weeks of printing.

Rush Orders

Please tell us what deadline you are working to when ordering your prints. If the deadline is less than 10 business days away, this is considered a Rush order. This will incur an additional fee, usually a percentage of the print job, and will vary depending on project specifics. If posting is needed, we will post using an appropriate service to meet your deadline, but we are not responsible for any delays caused by the carrier.

We accept no responsibility if deadlines are missed due to improperly prepared files or delays in file delivery.

Mock Ups & File Delivery

The colour mock up you provide acts as pre-production approval. Digital mock ups (soft proofs) are good representations of colour but are not exact colour matches. Make sure you are aware of how Riso prints look when printed. You can also purchase a sample pack of our ink & paper swatches via our website.

You can request a ‘hard proof’ ahead of printing, meaning we will print a sample of your print ahead of full production. This will incur an additional fee.

Your files must be print ready and delivered to the specifications laid out in our print guide. Any major changes needed to files ahead of delivery will incur an additional fee, which we will discuss with you before printing.

Printing Errors

You must deliver your files to be print ready. Once printing has begun, any changes to files will be subject to an additional charge. Therefore, we cannot be held responsible for:

  • Spelling, punctuation or grammatical errors made by client

  • Design errors or colour selection errors

  • Colour matching cannot be guaranteed unless a hard copy proof has been approved

  • Low quality or low resolution files

  • Grainy type when designed using software other than InDesign or Illustrator

  • Errors in client choice, such as paper type, size, finishing options & quantity

  • Delivery delays due to improperly prepared files, delays delivering files, changes to project scope or lack of timely response to emails
